The Rotary Club of Camperdown surprised guests during its 75th birthday celebrations on Saturday night by presenting a $20,000 donation to our Camperdown Residential Aged Care Appeal.

This incredibly generous gift will fund a stunning piece of art that will grace the entrance to the level-1 reflection room in the 36-bedroom new facility. Measuring 2.7 x 1.7m, Colac Otways artist Rachel King has accepted the commission to create the unique work which will then be handed to Melbourne artist Wesley Vine to interpret in glass.

Rachel lives in Barwon Downs, had a beautiful painting of Lake Purrembete and the mount in last year’s Corangamite Shire calendar, and is currently exhibiting at Barwon Heads. She’s fascinated by color, composition and form and her creations explore figurative abstraction, the natural environment and markers of time and place. Her paintings are born from real places, objects and natural forms and sit just on the edge of recognition. We have no doubt her finished piece will be breathtaking

17 weeks into the $652,000 appeal, $360,451 has so far been raised.
