Hayley will now go on to compete at the Deakin University final of the 3MT on Thursday 3 August at Deakin Burwood against 12 other Phd students from all faculties and institutes.

The Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition celebrates the exciting research conducted by Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) students. 3MT cultivates graduate researchers’ academic, presentation, and research communication skills and the capacity to effectively explain their research in three minutes, in a language appropriate to a non-specialist audience.

Hayley’s research focuses on learning and digital technology use with our Catering, Linen and Environmental Services workers at South West Healthcare. Hayley completed a Graduate Certificate of Education Research to explore this problem in 2020-2021 and commenced her PhD in 2022 to expand the research. She hopes to undertake research at South West Healthcare and Colac Area Health later this year to explore how Catering, Linen and Environmental Services workers learn at work and through mandatory training and understand if and/or how organisations can better design, develop and implement mandatory training to meet learner need.
