Of all our donors, there’s only one who has ridden 520 kilometres a year FOR 34 YEARS IN A ROW to help us stay on top of the medical equipment we need to care for our younger patients.

Paediatrics is the passion of our Warrnambool College Murray2Moyne Cycle Relay Team and they’ve now done 17,680 kilometres between Mildura and Port Fairy to prove it.

Their latest ride has resulted in a $5,000 donation: $3,850 raised by various activities of their own doing plus donations from their two loyal sponsors – Warrnambool Lions Club ($750) and the staff at Sinclair Wilson ($400). This latest gift pays outright for a new paediatric-specific trolley for our Emergency Department.

At our annual Welcome Home Reception we thanked everyone involved, from the riders to the sponsors to the support crew. A very special mention was also made of elder statesman Peter Rauert (back row, 7th from left) having received a Certificate of Appreciation from the 2024 M2M organising committee. Both a long-term rider and fundraising-driver of the team, Peter’s an exemplary sportsman and citizen who cultivates and nurtures cyclists whilst promoting the health benefits of cycling and the community benefits of fundraising. In his time in the team, more than $100,000 has been raised for our paediatric needs. What an amazing effort.
