State Budget funding for women’s health

Wednesday, 24 May 2023

It was Vic State Budget Day yesterday, and we were pleased to see the Victorian Government commit to further funding for women’s health and support for endometriosis here at South West Healthcare, with a visit from Labor MP Jacinta Ermacora.

Labour MP Jacinta Ermacora announces women's health funding at Warrnambool Base Hospital

The SWH Women’s Health Service currently offers women a number of supports and services including:

  • General gynaecology
  • General Women’s health
  • Pregnancy choices
  • Contraception choices
  • Abnormal smears requiring colposcopy
  • Adolescent Gynaecology problems
  • Uro-gynaecological/ pelvic organ prolapse
  • Pelvic pain
  • Basic fertility
  • Gynaecological cancers

A boost to funding will allow us to strengthen these services and to offer more women treatment closer to home as well as better wrap-around-care, following an endometriosis surgery or diagnosis. (Obtain a referral from your GP, to make a booking at the Women’s Health Service. Find out more about women’s health at South West Healthcare here.

Ms Ermacora also renewed commitment to a PET Scanner for the Warrnambool Base Hospital, which will be a game-changer for the diagnosis of cancers, heart disease, brain disorders and other conditions.
