Thursday, 03 Aug 2023

The South Western Centre Against Sexual Assault (CASA) hosted Sexual Assault Services Victoria (SASVIC) on Wednesday and Thursday last week.

SASVIC CEO, Kathleen Maltzahn and 11 members of the team journeyed to Warrnambool to meet with 20 members of the CASA team and Manager, Megan Bragonje. SASVIC are the peak body for sexual assault and harmful sexual behaviour services in Victoria. SASVIC support 18 CASA services across the state.

Over the weekend the State Government implemented new affirmative consent laws on sexual assault mean individuals must take steps to say or do something to check that the other person(s) involved consent to a sexual activity. Consent must be sought and given by all people involved freely and voluntarily. Find out more about affirmative consent here https://www.sasvic.org.au/consent

If you or someone you know needs support in relation to sexual assault or family violence, please contact SWCASA on 5564 4144
