The $384.2 million Warrnambool Base Hospital redevelopment is on track, with construction of the new offsite Regional Logistics Distribution Centre (RLDC) nearing structural completion.

The RLDC will provide state-of-the-art commercial linen services and a modern healthcare supply and logistics warehouse.

Construction of the new facility forms an important part of the enabling works for the rest of the hospital redevelopment. Moving these functional services offsite will make way for the new multi-storey clinical services tower at Warrnambool Base Hospital.

More than 1,500 cubic metres of concrete has been poured on the RLDC site so far. Once the roof is on, works to fit-out the interior will start.

The 5,280 square metre RLDC will support more than 50 health providers across Western Victoria. The RLDC is expected to be operational in early 2024, and will be operated by South West Healthcare.

The Warrnambool Base Hospital redevelopment is expected to be completed in 2027. The redevelopment will deliver:

  • New multi-storey hospital tower
  • A bigger emergency department
  • A new suite of operating theatres
  • Additional 22 inpatient beds
  • Dedicated paediatric unit
  • Clinical accommodation for pathology services, dialysis and central sterile services
  • A 120-space basement carpark for patients and visitors.
