Our Merindah Lodge residents have held a Christmas in July event to raise money for St Vincent’s COVID Isolation & Recovery Facility for Homeless People.

Supported by our Merindah Lodge leisure & lifestyle worker Linda Gaut, residents including Elizabeth Riches (pictured) chose this worthy cause as one of their major giving activities for 2020. Set up as a rapid response to the COVID crisis, the facility provides a warm, safe and friendly environment for homeless people needing to isolate after testing positive to coronavirus, or after having been in close contact with someone who has tested positive to coronavirus.

The $83 raised was sent off with 50 of resident Josie Douglas’ beautifully handknitted beanies, some puzzles and some books.

The residents have already heard back from St V’s – who told them their gifts were ‘very much appreciated’.
