Since Monday, we’ve raised another $21,000 for the $120,000 Breast Tumour Locator System we want for our Warrnambool theatres.

Today, our wonderful SWH Warrnambool Auxiliary members (many of them are pictured here) donated $10,000 to this cause, whilst earlier this week a third $1,000 gift arrived from our Scrubbers & The Gasman Murray2Moyne Cycle Relay Team, along with $800 they’d collected in sponsorship. And in between, we’ve received some other very generous gifts from donors including sisters Maree Gass, Judith Pigdon, Kathryn Pownceby and Sharyn Pownceby in memory of their mum Ivy, and the Ray Ahearn Charitable Trust.

We’re thrilled with the level of community support this appeal is receiving. The sooner we get this Breast Tumour Locator System the sooner we can more precisely identify breast lesions that cannot be felt by touch.

With just $11,746 left to raise we now turn all of our attention to Kim Sordello’s upcoming May-9 fundraising event on the grounds of her (Lava Street) All Seasons Nursery. She’s put a HUGE amount of work into the planning of this day and we hope people will come out in droves to support it. There’ll be live music by Slim & the Sparkyplugs, Sippy Sisters Brew Co coffee, and a Lions Club sausage sizzle. It’ll run from 9am–4pm and it’s perfect timing for a spot of Mothers’ Day shopping. $2 from every nursery product sold will be donated, as will 100% of the sausage sizzle proceeds, $1 from every coffee sold, and the proceeds of a fabulous raffle.

We suspect this event will almost get us to our appeal target. You can help make this happen by being there.
