South West Healthcare has this week opened the doors to its state-of-the-art mental health facility located at 122 Lonsdale St.

The new $3.3 million facility includes separate adult and paediatric waiting areas, 5 new consult rooms, a paediatric observation space, open plan work area, and a sensory garden with native flora chosen in collaboration with Budj Bim National Park, First Nation’s Peoples.

The facility also boasts spacious staff areas, providing dedicated open workspaces for both local staff and the daily visiting mental health teams from Warrnambool.
The building’s design was heavily influenced by the input of staff and consumers with lived experience to ensure that it was fit for purpose and tailored to best practice care.

The facility also features local indigenous artwork, which was selected following a joint expression of interest process held by South West Healthcare and Winda Mara Aboriginal Corporation.
