SWH farewells our longest serving employee

Monday, 28 Feb 2022

After a long an illustrious career, Carole Manifold will be retiring from work at our Camperdown campus, but will continue in her role as President of the Friends and Relatives of Merindah Lodge committee, where she has served in the role for 11 years.

Carole pictured here at her retirement bash in Camperdown, with three of her children Ben, Sarah and Tim.

Carol started working at South West Healthcare in 1962 at the Camperdown Hospital, where she lived in the nurses quarters. Carole helped push the beds over to Merindah Lodge when it opened in 1976 and was on duty for the first night shift. Carole in her role as President of the Friends & Relatives of Merindah Committee was instrumental in fundraising and planning outings and trips for residents. In 2016 the committee helped SWH fundraise for a bus, and have since also planted a garden, purchased a TV and various other items to help the Lodge feel like a loving home.

Carole has always been a passionate advocate for patients and became a breast care nurse following her own experience with not one but two bouts of breast cancer.

We wish you all the best in retirement and thank you for your years of service.
