In the thick of all sorts of furniture and equipment continuing to arrive at our almost-completed new residential aged care facility in Camperdown, our Camperdown Hospital and Aged Care Director Abhi Dolar has been snapped delivering this fun bit of kit.

It’s called a Ricky Rickshaw and, as soon as our residents move in, their family and friends will be able to take them for a spin. We’re thinking picnics, visits to our therapy gardens and maybe even ‘strolls’ around the neighbourhood.

There’s a few electric Ricky Rickshaws in residential aged care facilities this end of the state and, thanks to some very generous donors, we now have two of our very own. Made in Australia, they’re known to help get less ambulant people out into the fresh air and offer lots of benefits for elderly people (particularly those with dementia) by stimulating the senses, promoting wellbeing and aiding cognitive function.

In particular, we would like to thank the Camperdown Lions Club for launching this $13,964 appeal for us – with a very generous $800 donation.
