South West Healthcare proudly hosted The Hon. Mary-Anne Thomas to announce the official completion of our Regional Logistics Distribution Centre (RLDC), marking a significant milestone in the realm of healthcare infrastructure.
Commencing its planning phase in October 2021, the Regional Logistics Distribution Centre, situated in Warrnambool’s industrial precinct, benefited from the expertise of the acclaimed architect, Silver Thomas Hanley. The critical role played by our main building contractor, Hansen Yuncken Pty Ltd was pivotal in transforming our visions into a state-of-the-art facility.
The RLDC stands as a beacon of progress, providing South West Healthcare staff with a safe, comfortable, and modern working environment. The brand-new facility addresses approximately 95% of concerns prevalent in Warehousing, Logistics and Linen industries.
The Hon. Mary-Anne Thomas confirmed “The new state-of-the-art RLDC will give the hardworking laundry and logistics team a safer, more modern workplace as they continue their important role of ensuring the hospital get the supplies they need.”
The new facility plays a critical role in the initial phases of the Warrnambool Base Hospital Redevelopment, enabling the relocation of essential services offsite. This strategic move creates space for construction of the upcoming multi-storey clinical tower at South West Healthcare’s Warrnambool Campus.
“We further emphasise the forward-thinking design of the facility, allowing for operational growth within the broader Victorian health network into the future. The RLDC optimises South West Healthcare’s commitment to innovation, efficiency and the wellbeing of our staff and the community at large” described South West Healthcare, Chief Executive Officer, Craig Fraser.
In the coming months, South West Healthcare staff will transition into the brand-new space, making it their permanent work base.
