Life governorship is the most prestigious recognition we can bestow on a person who has given an outstanding contribution to our health service over a prolonged period of time.

We welcome Dorothy Davis (left) and Margaret Stephens to our elite list of life governors. Both women have been honoured during today’s 166th Annual General Meeting.

Dorothy has been volunteering at our Camperdown Hospital for 55 years. Throughout this time, this dedicated Meals on Wheels volunteer has enhanced the care of our Camperdown clients by providing for their needs, enabling them to live longer in their very own homes. She has always gone above and beyond to care for the people she delivers meals to. She even helps them set up their food trays, and cut up their food, if they need this level of assistance. Over time, great friendships have developed between Dorothy and the people she helps us care for. Even when under pressure to complete her deliveries, she would always find the time for a chat. In addition to her Meals on Wheels volunteer work, Dorothy has also provided community transportation for locals to attend medical appointments as far away as Geelong, and she supports the visually-impaired by reading to them. She says she enjoys helping others and has no intention of hanging up her apron any time soon.
Margaret is the remaining founding member of our 1990-established Friends and Relatives of Merindah (FROM). Secretary for more than 15 years, her dedication and organisational skills have been an asset and driving force to achieve impressive outcomes including the raising of more than $80,000 plus an additional $64,000 for a Merindah Lodge bus to ensure residents get to experience wonderful outings and craft activities to promote positivity and wellbeing. Throughout her involvement with FROM, Margaret has been incredibly proactive with her support and energy in both her interactions with Merindah Lodge residents and staff, as well as other committee members. She continually strives to provide the best service she can for our Camperdown residential aged care facility and always puts the care of our residents first.
