Two-year-old Ollie Noble’s ready for the opening of tonight’s Olympic Games (even ‘tho the son of Koroit’s Emma and Todd Noble was far more interested in the art he was making with our paediatrics unit registered nurse Sarah Gaut when we popped in to ask him to fly our flag).

Our paediatrics unit is looking fantastically festive thanks to the associate unit manager Tim O’Brien going the extra mile overnight to deck it out with flags from every country. It looks amazing and has created a real buzz around the place.

Our Australian Olympics team consists of our largest-ever group of homegrown (south west region) athletes, including the son of one of our workmates. Nathan Sobey’s a part of the Australoian men’s basketball team. His mum. Kerrie, is our access manager.

Prime 7 will air the countdown to the official opening from 8.30pm tonight. And that will be followed, at 9pm, by the official opening ceremony.

And while we’re on sport, this week the Warrnambool Standard dedicated an entire page to our District Nursing Service’s Jamie Fogarty; a brilliant nurse who’s been part of our SWH family for 25 years. Tim Auld’s Under The Pump, on Wednesday, recognised his cricket career. You might like to check it out.
