“Ace Week (founded as Asexual Awareness Week in 2010) is an annual event that puts asexuality in the spotlight. Part celebration of the progress made by the Ace community, and part campaign for greater understanding and acceptance of asexual-spectrum identities, Ace Week is a time to focus on all things ace.” (aceweek.org)
Asexuality is a sexual orientation and is used by people who don’t experience sexual attraction or desire. The term “Ace” is used as an umbrella term for individuals who identify toward the asexual end of the sexuality spectrum and includes identities like demisexual and grey-asexual.
This Ace Week is a time to support and better understand the experiences of asexual or ace individuals. It is important to recognise that asexuality has often been marginalised, overshadowed and erased from conversations about identity and sexuality.
