Ethics in Research at SWH

We review, approve and monitor the conduct of research in South West Healthcare and other regional health services. We protect the rights, safety and well-being of research participants. Research governance refers to the processes used to ensure accountability for the scientific quality, ethical acceptability and safety of research conducted at South West Healthcare.

South West Healthcare has endorsed The Victorian Aboriginal Health, Medical and Wellbeing Research Accord marra ngarrgoo, marra goorri which translates to “Community knowledge, Community health”. South West Healthcare supports the principles of the Research Accord and understand that it aims to increase the ethical standards of health, medical and wellbeing research that impacts Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Victoria.
