Important Notice: Redevelopment

Temporary Changes to Emergency Department Access

Effective Tuesday 17 September 2024 until Wednesday 18 September 2024, there will be temporary changes to access at South West Healthcare’s, Warrnambool Emergency Department, Ryot Street, as a part of the finishing stages to the $3.7M Emergency Department Expansion project.

During this time, patients and visitors will be redirected from the existing entrance upon arrival to an alternative door in the current ED precinct.

Security staff will be on-site throughout the access change period to assist with directions, and signage will be in place to guide visitors. Security personnel will also provide concierge support, helping patients and visitors as they access the service.

We ask everyone to remain cautious of ambulances and other emergency vehicles when visiting the Emergency Department.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we work to improve access to healthcare in the South West.

Traffic direction changes - Timor Street, Warrnambool

To support the Warrnambool Base Hospital Redevelopment, the Warrnambool City Council have altered traffic flow along Timor Street, restricting traffic travelling between Ryot Street and Hyland Street (westbound). These changes are essential to ensure the safe movement of large construction vehicles to the hospital redevelopment site. The new traffic direction is expected to remain in place until the project’s completion in 2027.

From Friday, 2 August 2024, this new arrangement will change the way patients and visitors access the South West Healthcare public underground car park located on Timor Street, Warrnambool.

When exiting the public underground car park, all patients and visitors exiting will only be able to turn left (east) on to Timor Street.

Signage to assist patients and visitors with these changes will be implemented by Warrnambool City Council shortly.

All-day car parks and two-hour parking on Timor Street will not be affected by the traffic direction change, although all parking will now face east.

For further queries related to the traffic change, please get in touch directly with Warrnambool City Council – contact@warrnambool.vic.gov.au
