The Rotary House Warrnambool Enlighten Project consists of a behind-the-meter battery that will improve our emergency accommodation’s energy efficiency whilst providing valuable insights for integrating battery storage at our larger sites. The installation was completed at the weekend. The 48kWh battery will soak up excess solar from Rotary House’s 6.6kW solar system, top up charge during off peak times to power the site during peak times, and support core functioning during onsite power outages.
These outcomes will improve energy efficiency and deliver financial savings to support our ongoing provision of low-cost emergency accommodation for patients, families and carers travelling from afar to access medical treatment at our Warrnambool Base, St John of God Hospital, the city’s aged care facilities and the South West Regional Cancer Centre.
The $40,000 project has been funded by DEECA through the Victorian Government’s 100 Neighbourhood Batteries Program Grants Round 2, with a 10 percent co-contribution from Rotary House Warrnambool Inc.
Member Ermacora was welcomed by SWH acting CEO Jamie Brennan. Other guests included Rotary House Inc Committee’s president Judy Ross and building committee chair Tony Austin.
