Accompanying John in all their sparkly glory was ‘Norm’ and ‘Daphne’ the Australian Open men’s and women’s championship cups.
John, Daphne and Norm were visiting the region as part of a promotional tour and took the time to stop at the Warrnambool campus to thank frontline staff for their tireless work throughout the pandemic.
Forged in silver and gold both Daphne and Norm weigh about 7.5 kilograms and are worth around $90,000 apiece.
Staff were invited to take selfies and there was a lot of excitement about a return to a ‘COVID-19-normal’ summer of sport.
South West Healthcare has been overwhelmed with similar gestures of kindness and acknowledgement from the community for the work that staff have done.
“As we head towards Christmas and the end of a very busy 2 years for the health service, it’s wonderful to see smiles and relaxed faces again, and to be a part of such a generous community”, said CEO Craig Fraser.
