These two wonderful donations will be used to help furnish and equip more of the bedrooms in the $39.6M Camperdown Residential Aged Care facility we’re currently building alongside our Camperdown Hospital.
This exciting development includes 36 bedrooms with ensuites (including special purpose, disability compliant, and rooms for couples) grouped in small households to create home-like environments. Incorporating best practice, evidence-based aged care design underpinned by dementia-friendly principles, there are multiple resident and family living and dining spaces including discreet quiet indoor, outdoor and activity-dedicated areas. Inside there’s a community café, gym, reflection space, and hair and nail salon. Outside, extensive landscaping will promote physical and mental wellbeing and encourage social interaction via a kitchen garden, a purpose-built aged care persons’ exercise circuit and multiple spaces for families and friends to come together. The architecture maximises stunning views towards the lakes and craters Camperdown is so known for.
The overwhelming support of local businesses, clubs and people means our appeal total is now $427,788. To reach our appeal target, another $134,212 still needs to be raised to help pay for the following: the equipping/furnishing of nine bedrooms (at $9,200 each); two $3,800 commercial BBQs; a $4,000 TV and $5,000 piece of fitness equipment for the gym; $16,000 for the therapy garden and outdoor furniture, and two $3,643 princess air chairs for the resident’s new bus. Meantime, the mission to find 50 people wanting to each donate $97 to raise $4,850 to equip and furnish the hair & nail salon continues. So far, 26 people have kindly supported this initiative.
